Pelvic floor physiotherapy is a specialized type of physical therapy that focuses on strengthening, rehabilitating, and restoring the function of the pelvic floor muscles. Common conditions include:

Concussion 

A concussion commonly can affect the following systems: 

  • Visual system (eyes) 

  • Vestibular system (balance)

  • Cervical spine (neck & spine) - can cause headaches, dizziness, pain etc. 

  • Autonomic nervous system (regulates our breathing, heart rate, blood pressure etc)

A comprehensive concussion assessment screens these systems by testing eye/ head movements, balance, exercise tolerance and the cervical spine. 

Falls prevention/ Balance

Physiotherapy for fall prevention is to reduce the risk of falls, particularly in older adults or individuals with conditions that affect balance, strength, or coordination. Falls can lead to serious injuries, such as fractures or head trauma, so the goal of fall prevention physiotherapy is to enhance physical function and promote safety.

Pre- and Post Surgery rehab (knee, hip, ankle/ foot, shoulder, elbow, wrist/ hand)

Pre-surgery rehab - preparing you both mentally and physically for your upcoming surgery. This includes:

  • restoring range of motion; 

  • reducing pain and inflammation; 

  • improving strength and motor control;

  • education - helping you prepare for surgery, knowing what to expect etc. 

Post-op rehab - optimizing your recovery and reducing your risk of re-injury during the rehab process. This includes:

  • reducing pain and swelling; 

  • improving range of motion; 

  • increasing strength and endurance; 

  • facilitating return to pain-free activities of daily living & leisure activities.
